HVAC Training and Education

In your HVAC program of study, your instructors would have experience working in the refrigeration and HVAC training. They would also have HVAC certification, and this is a big advantage for you to learn from the experts in the field. HVAC schools teach using hands-on training, theory classes, and lab time. This allows students to develop their skills for practical use.

With technological advancement in heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems, most employers will only graduates of accredited HVAC vocational program and passed certification. When choosing college, be sure that it is accredited by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), or the Partnership for Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Accreditation (PHARA).

HVAC home study diplomas are ideal for learning the fundamentals of servicing and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and cooling systems. Coursework would cover troubleshooting, repair, adjusting, and installing air conditioning and heating systems and components. HVAC training and related HVAC courses cover:

HVAC Careers

HVAC technicians specialize in either installation or repair, but they are typically trained for both. HVAC technicians follow blueprints to install oil, gas, electric, and fuel systems, and heating, cooling, and air-conditioning systems. They also install and maintain heat pumps, where they can be required to work either inside buildings or outside. Jobs include working in maintenance departments at institutions like colleges and universities, hospitals, large business and industries, etc. Many HVAC technicians also choose to start their own HVAC business.

Most states require heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration mechanics, technicians, and and installers are required to be licensed. To do so, a test is required in addition to certified HVAC training. However, HVAC technicians are required to be certified by an Environmental Protection Agency-approved organization before practicing in their HVAC career.

Expected Salary and Career Growth

With the construction industry on the rise, more commercial and residential buildings depend on functioning heating and cooling systems. More people are also buying personal homes and this means they will need someone maintain their heating and cooling systems. Thus, according to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, you can expect to earn around $10.50 and $27.00. with HVAC training. In addition, job prospects in the HVAC industry are expected to be good, especially in expanding areas of the most states where climate-controlled buildings need servicing, repair and maintenance.
