A database consists of organized collections of data for multiple uses and often in a digital format. Database administrators and those working towards a database management training degree are prepared for a career in the maintenance and troubleshooting databases, servers and management tools for data. The candidate will learn storing, evaluating and transferring data for government and private sector businesses. Employers will tend to hire those holding a degree in database management that have experience working in the industry. It is typically required that a candidate have three to five years in a position where they have worked within data management. Although there multiple database and computer languages and structures, many professionals choose to specialize in an area like Oracle, MySQL or Access. Database Management Training and Education

The course of study for the database management degree will include but is not limited to, SQL, Oracle and IBM DB2. The candidate will learn to repair a database, transfer data securely and safely as well as store and backup the data. A career in this field will require people skills, excellent researching skill and the ability to work with a team. This degree will open a number of career advancing opportunities for the candidate.

To gain this degree the student must complete all of these courses that are required by most schools and also demonstrate that they can meet the skills that are necessary to work within a database management position. These courses may vary, however, most schools will include the following:

Expected Salary and Project Career Growth

Students that work towards database management training can earn on average the yearly salary of $40,000 to $100,000. This range in salary can vary and this is dependent upon the location, the candidate's experience and their assigned duties. Continuing one's studies will open up more opportunities for an increase salary. If the student has already worked for in the information systems or information technology field then this may also be considered in determining the salary.

According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of computer network, systems, and database administrators is projected to increase by 30% between 2008 to 2018 which is much faster than the average for all professions. This means that the role of those with database management training will continue to be important.
