Education and Training

There is a wide variety in amenities and living accommodations you can work in and the training will vary. However, with a degree or an A.A.S. in Global Travel and Hospitality Management from an accredited college or university, you can specialize in both hotel management and hospitality management. With an associate's degree, you would generally work in smaller establishments while with a bachelors degree you can work as an assistant manager or manager for a larger restaurant or hotel chain. In addition most restaurant and hotels provide on-the-job training.

Projected Career Growth

Employment in hotel and hospitality careers is sensitive to economic trends and season. During recessions, vacation and business travel declines and increases when people have more disposable income. Normal growth in the hotel and tourism industry is expected over the next few years. There are many different levels of management work and all come with slightly different responsibly and income levels. The range of average yearly salaries for hospitality managers starts at $25,000 and goes up to $70,000. In some industries and locations the salaries can range from about $70,000 to $130,000.
