Nurse Informatics Education and Training

This is one field where the more education you have, the better your future is going to be. More than 50% of all individuals who are employed in nursing informatics have a masters degree. Courses may include:

When a person has a degree in nursing informatics they will usually be working more closely with a computer than they will be with patients. The purpose of a nursing informatics can vary from one location to another but for the most part their job is to create an efficient way use computers to process and retrieve information about patients, clinical studies, and drugs.

Many people who enjoy science and communication find that they enjoy being a nursing informatics because the field provides them to combine the sciences of nursing, computers, and information. Tasks that a nurse Informatics is routinely required to do include identifying what things can be done to help other nurses become more proficient with the existing medical database. They also help train nurses to understand and use the current system. They will have to retrain all of the nurses whenever the system gets changed or is overhauled.

The outlook for a future in nursing informatics is very promising. All indications show that not only will this field hold strong, but that there will be more job opportunities in the future. The field is expected to show significant growth over the next ten years. In addition to being a field that shows lots of promise for upcoming job availability, there is the potential to make a great deal of money as a nursing Informatics.

The average salary for someone with nurse qualifications in 2007 was $83,675 and the median salary was $79,000. In the past several years the average informatics nurse has seen their salary increase by approximately $13,000. Currently the average Informatics nurse is earning about $83,675. The average is salary for those with a nurse informatics degree is expected to increase in the future.
