Voice Lessons and Vocal Training

This article looks at the values we learn from voice lessons and its rewarding benefits. One common question is: Are singers born with the ability to sing, or can someone learn how to sing?

The answer is that many of us can learn how to sing regardless of age. Maria, the main character of the musical Sound of Music, has taught us more than just how to sing, she also successfully imparted values we learn from taking voice lessons that we rarely could find in formal school. The magic of music has given a novice nun to discipline 12 children with guitar and beautiful voice. Anybody can sing in the shower thus anybody can be a singer. Music is for everyone not only for the divas. Surely developing this skill can be very rewarding. You can perform alone or join a choir. Either you get to use the talent and most likely earn extra. Though it may not promise a stable career showcasing this talent can improve our self-esteem. This profession also falls under performing arts and may also be offered under a degree in music program where courses in music therapy would likely be part of the program.

Voice Training and Education

Attending formal classes or a voice lesson will teach you more than the history, technique and principles. The discipline of applying it can be daunting for a beginner. Admittedly this form of performing arts can relatively be challenging. Overcoming such hurdle can simply require you to give up the simple pleasures of life such as ice-cold sodas and ice cream. Music courses may include:

  • Composition
  • Aural Skills and Musicianship
  • Music Technology
  • Theory and Harmony
  • Concert Band
  • Choral Ensemble

Combining melody, harmony and rhythm requires common sense. The ability of a singer to shift from one form of music to another can be ideal. Versatile singers tend to get wider opportunities and clients giving him the exposure he needs to survive this industry. Private voice lessons are a vocal studio for students who are interested in music as a hobby or career. This includes community theatre participants, college students, church choir members and musical theater trainees.

Unless you are planning to have a teaching career, where teacher certification is required for K-12 education, a Bachelors degree in music would be advantageous in addition to private voice lessons. A state teaching certification allows him to bid for his rate. The study of foreign language and culture, music theory and song writing are part of the curriculum of music courses.

Careers with Voice Training

More than a good voice and strong musical sense, a singer must have a remarkable personality that can entice a crowd. An experienced singer is able to express the message of his song through proper interpretation. He is able to move his audience towards the proper emotion that the song conveys. His facial expression and body movement is able to deliver this thought. We can say that singing is partly acting. Without the proper reaction to the song, it can lose its feelings and ruin the whole song.

An innate talent can perform in front of crowds comfortably. He or she can set a stage on fire wherever he is. He might be performing on the street but get the same appeal as if they were in a concert. Relatively it would be an added factor for a singer to look good. Maintaining good health is a must to fully use the respiratory system towards gaining the proper breathing and pronunciation of words. Singing does not require you in one place alone. The vast stage needs its energetic performer.

Enjoying what we do can definitely be rewarding for many. It is not every day that we are allowed to express ourselves. Take a full course in known conservatories or schools, or if you are just too busy online singing lessons are available for your use. Music is like air. We feel it, we know it exist but we cannot see it. Express yourself and be heard. Who knows? You might just be the next singing superstar.

Estimated Income and Projected Career Outlook

Patience is ultimately a requirement in this craft. Not because you got a degree or certified would guarantee a regular source of income.
